Famiglia proveniente da Campi: Alessandro di Vanni nel 1381 fu squittinato per la maggiore e coprì la carica importantissima di notaio della Signoria di Firenze. Il suddetto cognome fu assunto per la prima volta nel 1506 da Leonardo di Bartolo di Biagio, e furon detti “delle Stelle” per distinguerli da altre famiglie dello stesso nome, dalle tre stelle d’oro che furono aggiunte allo stemma originario. Early records of the name mention Stille (without Last Name) who was listed in the Domesday Book of 1066. In 1066 Duke William of Normandy conquered England.
